Parkinson’s Caregivers Support Program
Dr. Black Returns for a Second Year of Parkinson’s Foundation Grant Funding
Dr. J. “Audie” Black, Ph.D., ABN, founder of Idaho Neuropsychology, is pleased to announce that the Parkinson’s Foundation has generously granted funding to the Treasure Valley Family YMCA for a special program for caregivers of those with Parkinson’s. “This is much needed support for our community, as caregivers often receive the least support during the Parkinson’s journey,” shares Dr. Black.
Dr. Black will lead four educational sessions for the new Parkinson’s Caregiver Support Group this year. Peer discussions led by Robyn Parrish, an experienced facilitator and former caregiver, will alternate with these sessions. The first two meetings are October 20 (covering caregiver resilience, distress, and burnout) and December 15 (focusing on the grieving process).
During the first grant cycle, Dr. Black focused on the neurocognitive effects of Parkinson’s disease and related conditions like Lewy body dementia.
