Trauma (PTSD) Treatment for Idaho Falls and East Idaho

If you’re living with the effects of trauma and PTSD in Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Pocatello, or anywhere in East Idaho’s 8B, 1M, or 1B region, finding a provider trained in all three gold-standard treatments for PTSD doesn’t have to mean the long drive to Boise.

Idaho Neuropsychology’s Trauma Treatment Program, directed by Dr. Melissa Kremer, is available by telehealth for the full course of treatment. From your first appointment through your final session, you can meet with Dr. Kremer by video from anywhere in Idaho.

Who Needs Treatment for Trauma?

PTSD can follow many different experiences, and it doesn’t always look obvious from the outside. We see patients who come from every trauma background.

One‑time trauma such as assault, tragic accidents, natural disaster, or the death of a loved one.
Repeated trauma including childhood abuse and intimate partner violence.
Work‑related trauma, especially those in high‑risk or high-stress jobs where they are routinely exposed to traumatic events.

PTSD is a treatable mental health condition, and research suggests that up to 80% of adults with PTSD can recover when they receive appropriate care.

Why East Idaho Residents Choose Idaho Neuropsychology for Trauma Treatment

Treatment from home.

Every appointment in the Trauma Treatment Program, including your intake evaluation, can be scheduled as a video visit. There is no requirement to travel to Boise at any point in treatment if you prefer to meet virtually.

A time-limited, recovery-oriented, evidence-based, measurement-driven path.

Treatment is built around Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), EMDR, and Prolonged Exposure (PE), the three treatments with the strongest research support for PTSD. The program is designed to produce lasting symptom relief on a defined timeline rather than open-ended, indefinite therapy, and your progress is tracked throughout using structured assessment, not just how a session feels, so you and Dr. Melissa Kremer both know whether treatment is working.

Direct access to Dr. Melissa Kremer, PsyD.

Dr. Melissa Kremer directs the Trauma Treatment Program and spent nearly 15 years treating trauma and PTSD at the VA prior to joining Idaho Neuropsychology. She is trained in all three gold-standard treatments for PTSD and works with you directly from your first appointment through your last. You will never face a rotating group of clinicians.

Self-pay, by design.

Idaho Neuropsychology operates exclusively on a self-pay basis. There are no prior authorizations, insurance panels, or delays driven by coverage requirements.

Meet Dr. Melissa Kremer, PsyD

Dr. Melissa Kremer spent nearly 15 years treating trauma at the VA before founding Idaho Neuropsychology’s Trauma Treatment Program.

She has worked with combat veterans and first responders, as well as survivors of assault and workplace trauma. She also supervises psychiatry residents in psychotherapy at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr. Kremer built the Trauma Treatment program around a straightforward idea: treatment should move you forward, not just give you a space to process indefinitely. If what you’re doing in session together isn’t working, she’ll tell you, and help you figure out what will.

Starting the Process from East Idaho

Patients from Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Pocatello, or anywhere in Eastern Idaho can begin with a free 15-minute consultation call with Dr. Kremer to discuss your situation and confirm next steps. From there, your intake appointment and every ongoing session can be scheduled as a video visit using Zoom, which is HIPAA compliant and secure.

Due to licensing laws, you must be physically located in the state of Idaho at the time of your appointments to participate in telehealth. Since Idaho Falls, Rexburg, and Pocatello are all within Idaho, this requirement is met without any travel.

If you’d prefer to meet in person for some or all of your appointments, Idaho Neuropsychology’s office is located in Boise.

How Does Self-Pay Work?

Self-pay services allow the flexibility and confidential nature of working outside of traditional insurance.  However, depending on your insurance benefits you might be able to use out-of-network coverage, should you wish. A SuperBill can be provided on request. Please note: Medicare does not allow out-of-network reimbursement.

The initial 60-minute evaluation has a one-time cost and our billing coordinator will review all fees and provide a detailed estimate before your first appointment. Follow-up 60-minute appointments are billed separately from the evaluation.

See our Logistics Page for specifics on scheduling and payment.
