Welcome

Idaho Neuropsychology, PLLC was proudly established in 2023. We have the honor of serving adults who live with a neurological disorder and are going through cognitive, behavioral, and/or emotional changes. Our approach involves teamwork and collaboration with the patient’s primary care provider and neurologist to provide comprehensive care that addresses the entire person. Additionally, we are equally dedicated to supporting the patient’s caregiver, who plays a crucial role in helping their loved one navigate the challenges associated with cognitive and behavioral changes resulting from neurological conditions. Being a caregiver is a privilege, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. We assist caregivers in understanding their loved one’s level of functioning, developing a practical caregiving plan, and ensuring they also prioritize their own health and well-being.

As a second-generation Idahoan, my mission is for Idaho Neuropsychology, PLLC to deliver top-quality care and exceptional service within our beautiful state that I would want for my own family members. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions about our services.

Our Approach

Each person is unique and deserves a care plan tailored to their individual situation. The typical sequence for a new patient includes an initial diagnostic assessment followed by individual treatment planning and caregiving education and support.

Assessment

A neuropsychological evaluation is conducted to document the patient’s current cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning and to provide clarity on neurocognitive and psychiatric diagnoses. For instance, a neuropsychological evaluation can help differentiate between dementia and normal age-related memory decline or assist individuals with Multiple Sclerosis in determining whether their cognitive difficulties are attributed to their neurological disease or secondary depression. The recommendation for either a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation or a more focused consultation depends on the patient’s specific medical history and needs.

Treatment

Once a neurocognitive and/or psychiatric diagnosis has been established, and the patient’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses have been identified during the initial assessment, a personalized treatment plan will be recommended. Depending on each individual’s unique needs, this plan may involve individual psychotherapy, behavior management coaching, and/or pharmacological (medication) management. At Idaho Neuropsychology, PLLC, the therapist and prescribing provider work closely together to coordinate their treatment plans and maintain open communication with the patient’s primary medical team.

Caregiver Education & Support

Alongside the patient’s treatment, we also provide dedicated attention and support to their caregiver. If a caregiver’s loved one has undergone a neuropsychological evaluation, we assist them in comprehending their loved one’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well as how the underlying neurological condition has impacted their current level of functioning. Every caregiver and their caregiving situation is unique. Some caregivers find value in a series of focused one-on-one coaching sessions, where they learn effective strategies to address the cognitive and/or behavioral changes their loved one is experiencing. Others find peer support from fellow caregivers who are walking a similar path, facing similar challenges, to be most beneficial. Such support enhances their social network and helps them realize they are not alone in this journey.
